DDR Statement
The research applies the design-driven research (DDR) concept, which connects scientific methods with design while exploring the practical solutions regarding the emphasized problems. In this research, the methodological approach frameworks are divided into several parts:
Theoretical background with the analysis terms such as commons and different spatial concepts that contain the characteristics of temporality with a broader period, documenting the correlations between directions, periods, and specific principles that possess properties of temporality
Defining the models of temporality through analysis of examples from Europe's five defined development periods of the 20th century (1920-40, 1940-50, 1950-1967, 1967-1990, after 1990), analysis using the theoretical base from the first part of the research.
Verification of models and their application in the context of New Belgrade's case studies, cross-analyzing general models with the design practice examples, project documentation, and fieldwork (documenting changes comparing to the design stage).
The analysis consists of: a diagrammatic program+spatial analysis based on the research of Zapel, Hanson, Till and Schneider, and Leupen and a comparative-numerical analysis based on Daleman, Kirschenman, and Pfeifer (Deilmann et al., 1980; Hanson, 1998; Heckmann et al., 2018; Leupen, 2006; Schneider & Till, 2007). These diagrams show abstract relational patterns considering the organization of functions, activities, and hierarchy of spaces.
